When a lonely Carol and Billy decide to spend the evening together, they find themselves enjoying each other's company at The Vic.
Although
both are adamant that it's not a date, there is soon romance in the air
as Carol takes the plunge and the pair share a kiss.

However, the following day a hungover Carol is on the warpath and snaps
at Whitney Dean, prompting Sonia to realise there is something wrong
with her mother.
Concerned, Sonia confronts Carol about her
behaviour but they are distracted when they learn that Liam has skipped
school. A furious Carol immediately heads to the Beale house and finds
him with Cindy, but surprises Sonia by refusing to punish him.

Later on, Sonia tries to get to the bottom of what is wrong and
Carol breaks down. Sonia's concerns about her odd behaviour then
increase when Carol continues her refusal to reprimand Liam and instead
lets him stay with Cindy again.
Knowing something is wrong but
unable to get Carol to open up, Sonia decides to make a call and
arranges for Carol to speak to a counsellor from a cancer charity.
Although
reluctant at first, Carol soon opens up to Frances the counsellor,
revealing all of her fears and worries. Has Carol finally got the help
she needs?
