When Michelle suggests a long engagement and tells Steve that there is no rush to buy her a ring, he starts to fear that she doesn't really want to marry him and only agreed out of pity.
Convinced that his depression makes him a burden and the idea was doomed from the start, Steve shocks Michelle by suddenly calling off the engagement.
What Steve doesn't realise is that Michelle isn't prepared to give up on him so easily, so she starts preparing her own romantic surprise for him.
Steve's best friend Lloyd Mullaney later sends him back to The Rovers to face Michelle, where he finds the back room romantically decorated with candles.
Michelle then follows Steve into the bar and passionately declares her love for him in front of the Weatherfield locals, who have gathered to attend Billy Mayhew's charity butler auction.
As Michelle gets down on one knee and proposes, will Steve accept?
