EastEnders star Himesh Patel has revealed that Tamwar Masood's scars are holding him back in his relationship with Nancy Carter.

Tamwar was badly burned in Albert Square's B&B fire in 2011 and his past ordeal is revisited next week when he has an emotional heart-to-heart with Nancy.

The young couple will finally take their relationship to the next level after Tamwar talks through his insecurities about the scars on his back. Nancy's understanding reaction leaves Tamwar hopeful that he has finally found the right girl.

Patel told Inside Soap: "The scars are what have been holding Tam back. But when he talks to Nancy, she is totally supportive and lovely. It's a pivotal point and a huge leap of faith for him, as Tam is taking Nancy's word for it when she promises not to walk away from him - even though in his experience everyone does just that."

Nancy and Tamwar take things to the next level

Discussing the progress of the pair's romance, he added: "I didn't want Tam and Nancy to get together too quickly. He is still recovering from his wife Afia leaving him a couple of years ago, and I don't think he'd want to jump into anything too fast. So the whole romance has been a slow burn, and that's made the audience really want it to happen even more."

Viewers will also see Tamwar find out that Nancy has been hiding a secret of her own when he looks through one of her notepads, but what exactly has she been keeping to herself?
