When Ian
returns to Walford with Bobby, the happy reunion doesn't go to plan
when it becomes clear that their problems are far from over despite the
trial ending.
When Bobby overhears a journalist talking to Jane
about Max, he lashes out and says some harsh words about
her, prompting Ian to snap and remind him that Jane is his mother.

Later, Ian visits Sharon Mitchell and thanks her for supporting Jane,
but he gets more than he bargained for when she shares some harsh home
truths about his disappearing act.
Back at home, Ian promises
Jane that he'll make things better and begins to write her a letter, but
she is panic-stricken the following day when she wakes up to an empty
bed.
After Jane finds the letter from Ian, she rushes over to
Sharon's where she reveals that Ian is going to attempt suicide.
Clocking on to where he might be, Jane heads to Lucy's grave where she
finds a rose that he bought earlier from Pam.

Eventually finding Ian on a bridge, Jane does her best to encourage him
to step down. After an emotional plea, Ian finally takes Jane's hand and
embraces her.
However, as the pair hug, nothing can prepare Ian for what is coming next as he sees a ghost from the past, Kathy.
As
Ian and Kathy reel from seeing each other, the reunion takes a very
sudden turn which could change everything. How will Ian cope with the
truth that his mum is actually alive?
