EastEnders - Stacey Branning will go into labour over the festive season, but the birth of her son will lead to a shocking discovery.

Although a nervous Stacey and Kush will prepare to come clean with their other halves, Shabnam soon receives some upsetting news that will change everything.

With Kush now realising that his wife can't know the truth and Martin trying to get to the bottom of Stacey's strange behaviour, tensions between the foursome will reach a peak.

Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey, said: "It all begins when Kush tells Stacey and Martin that Shabnam has been to the doctors and Stacey goes to talk to her about it. Instantly Shabnam snaps, but I think it is only because she is so upset about her situation and she doesn't want to talk about it. This whole situation is a huge mess, as for Stacey it would be easier not to be friends with Kush and Shabnam. But Stacey is so fond of Shabnam, she is her best friend and the closest person she has around her at the moment. It's certainly tricky!"

Under more pressure than ever, Stacey will start to develop contractions on Christmas Eve, but decides to push through them in order to watch her daughter Lily perform in the community centre's nativity.

Stacey eventually goes into labour and gives birth to a baby boy, but as everyone celebrates the new arrival, one resident begins to put two and two together and comes to a startling realisation.

Following the birth of her son, Stacey later returns home but Kush and Carmel quickly grow paranoid and wonder if a distracted Shabnam has discovered the truth.

With secrets rife, Shabnam eventually confronts Stacey, but what does she know and will Stacey come clean?

Shedding light on her character's complicated situation, Turner added: "Stacey is really happy with Martin, which is why she is so desperate for him not to find out the truth about the baby. She knows it will break his heart and if she had her way, Martin would be the father. Stacey can really see a future with him now, which is not something she would have said a few months ago! She would like to think that Martin will never find out. Although deep down she knows it is wrong to lie to him, she can't bear to think of how hurt he will be or the thought of losing him.''

Teasing Shabnam's reaction if she was to discover the truth, she added: "I think she would be devastated, angry, betrayed and more. And she would have every right to be, but Kush and Stacey never set out to hurt anyone. They didn't have an affair, it was one drunken night when Kush and Shabnam were on a break. What they should have done was told Shabnam then, but hindsight is a wonderful thing and if they knew then what they do now, maybe things would be different. That's what makes this whole situation even more complicated."
