Coronation Street - Sarah Platt is admitted to hospital for psychiatric treatment.

Billy Mayhew's drug addict brother Lee holds Sarah hostage in his bedsit.

Lee is hoping to force Billy into handing over £1,000 to him in exchange for his friend's safe release, but Lee gets much more than he bargained for when he realises that Sarah is mentally unstable.

Hoping that he can find a way to control Sarah, a devious Lee fuels her fears by falsely claiming that Callum is still alive. Unfortunately for him, this only makes matters worse as Sarah's mood descends into all-out panic.

Tina O'Brien, who plays Sarah, revealed: "She's really upset and she's really panicked. Sarah has been having doubts for weeks about Callum and has been wondering: 'Did he really die?' She's in a really bad place. It's just too much pressure for her. She's had a baby, she's not sleeping, she's not got anybody to confide in and she just starts unravelling. Lee can tell she's not quite right. She keeps talking about Callum and he realises that if he can keep her there, then he's more likely to get what he wants. He abuses the situation and tries to make her feel scared and insecure. It backfires though, because she completely believes him and goes ballistic."

Sarah's hostage ordeal only comes to an end when David rushes to her rescue, but her meltdown is so worrying that David later tells their mum Gail that Sarah needs urgent help.

David, Kylie, Bethany, Nick, Audrey and Gail all later stage an intervention and try to convince Sarah that she isn't well. When an ambulance later arrives for her, Sarah agrees to be treated in a mother and baby unit.

O'Brien said: "The psychiatrist says she is having episodes of psychosis because of what's happened. The body has been discovered in the house, she's just had a baby and the lack of sleep contributes to it all. Sarah acknowledges that she needs to get better. I hope Sarah can get better. I'm not sure yet, but I think she's getting all the help she can get in a mother and baby unit. It's easily the hardest thing I've ever filmed. It's been really tough and sad. It's definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone."
