Andrew Sachs will play the hospital roommate of Stan Carter on EastEnders next week.

It was previously reported that Sachs would join the cast of the BBC soap for a short stint, but his role has now been confirmed for the first time.

Stan will be admitted to hospital next week after his health deteriorates significantly and he collapses.

Whilst in hospital, a lonely Stan meets his hospital roommate Cyril, but he soon grows increasingly frustrated with him.
