When strong-minded Amelia continues to put her foot down, it sparks a change of plan as Dan agrees to take care of her with help from his fun-loving partner Kerry Wyat.
Kerry hasn't been known for her strong mothering skills in the past, so Emmerdale fans will have to wait and see whether she does a better job with Amelia.
Liam Fox, who plays Dan, explained: "Dan is conflicted about Amelia's decision to stay. He loves the idea of Amelia staying around because family means everything to him, but there is also a part of him that doesn't want Ali to feel rejected. A daughter not going with her mother might be quite hard for her, so he's stuck between a rock and a hard place. There's a few things that Kerry tries to do to prove herself. I think it goes back to her own daughter Amy, as she was never a great mother! With Amelia, it's potentially another chance for Kerry to be the mum she always should have been. She'll do anything to show love to Amelia and be a great maternal figure and partner to Dan - but as always for Kerry, some of these things don't go as expected! Ruby and Ali are leaving the village for a while at least, and we'll just have to see how that works out with Dan's new little family in the village. If Ali and Ruby come back, we'll see where we go from there."

News of Sean's accident reached his family earlier this month, following the teen's decision to leave the village to join the army.
While Ali and Ruby will need to be close to Sean's hospital for the time being, show bosses have promised that it's not the last viewers have seen of the couple.
An Emmerdale spokesperson said: "Ali and Ruby have gone to stay closer to Sean after his accident. They've not made this move permanently at this point."
