Emmerdale, Emma Barton will cement her status as one of the village's biggest schemers next week, jeopardising her estranged husband James's chance to reunite with his partner Chas Dingle.

Jealous Emma is quick to take action when it seems that James will win Chas back, coming up with two shock plans to keep everything going her way.

Chas recently dumped James after discovering that he had spent the night with Emma, but the old chemistry between the pair flares up again when they bump into each other at Bar West.

A night out takes an unexpected turn
Emma and James are visiting the gay bar with their son Finn to cheer him up following his recent split from his boyfriend Darren. Chas and her son Aaron Livesy also arrive for a separate night out by chance.
When both parties collide, James and Chas get a chance to catch up, leaving Emma secretly seething when she sees their spark.

Gillian Kearney, who plays Emma, commented: "Emma leaves the bar, but then she capitalises on a genuine event, as she gets knocked to the ground by a group of youths and ends up cut. She then goes back inside and pretends to have been mugged. Emma can't believe her luck, because James is immediately her knight in shining armour. Chas is not so sympathetic because she isn't stupid and knows that Emma is a drama queen. James takes Emma home, they call the police and then she gets her hopes up that they could get back together."
James supports Emma
Despite Emma's best efforts to win sympathy, she later realises that she needs another plan when she learns that Chas and James have arranged a trip to France together.

Kearney continued: "Chas rubs Emma's face in it! Emma is sitting in the pub with Val when James arrives, leans over the bar and asks Chas if she'll come to France with him. Chas says there's no need to think it over, she'd love to go!  Emma just storms out, as she's humiliated and belittled. It's Chas who becomes her focus, not James. Chas is the one that she wants to hurt. Straight away Emma thinks of something she can do to stop Chas going to France, and she does manage to stop her! But although Emma creates complications, Chas eventually decides for herself that she shouldn't go anyway. I think Chas just realises that Emma is never going to go away and her relationship with James would have too many complications. Emma digs her heels in and will never give up. I think if you get in Emma's way and you stop her from having what she wants, then she'll fight very hard. She'll use everything that she's got to turn the situation to her advantage. There are people in the village she cares about like Val, who she wouldn't hurt. But if it's to do with James, her sons and that status quo, the claws come out!"
