Mick
will initially be reluctant to discover the paternity of the newborn
due to the instant bond he feels, but will soon realise that the truth
needs to be discovered.
Scenes airing earlier in the week will
see Mick bond with the baby as he assures Linda that
they don't need to do a paternity test because DNA isn't important.

However, Shirley has other ideas and is adamant that they do a DNA test
following a conversation with Dean, who strongly believes the baby is
his.
After she confronts Mick over his decision, it looks as if
her words are getting through to him when they are interrupted by a call
from Linda to say Dean has arrived at the hospital.
After
talking to the nurse at the hospital, Mick realises there's a way to
discover the baby's paternity, and despite Linda's reluctance, decides
to find out his blood group. What will the results say?

Lee will also find himself struggling in the wake of Linda's birth next
week as he finds it hard to come to terms with having a new sibling and
not knowing who the father is.
After receiving a video from Linda, Lee tells Nancy and Whitney that he is not going to the hospital to visit them.
When Mick overhears the conversation, he pulls Lee aside and the pair open up about their feelings.
As
Lee reveals his fears about the baby being Dean's, Mick assures him
that the baby is a Carter regardless, but does Mick believe his own
words?
