EastEnders will air Bonnie Langford's first scenes later this month as her character Carmel Kazemi arrives in Albert Square.

It was announced earlier this year that the singer and stage actress had been cast in the role of Kush's mother, and Carmel will arrive in Walford following the news that her son is engaged.

Upcoming episodes will see Kush propose to his on-off girlfriend Shabnam Masood, shortly after he shares a kiss with Stacey Branning.

Following the engagement, a nervous Shabnam prepares to meet Carmel for the first time and starts making preparations.

However, Carmel's arrival couldn't come at a worse time for the family following a massive row between Shabnam and Masood over her secret daughter.

While Shabnam keeps herself busy by making dinner for Carmel, Masood tells Tamwar that he knows where his granddaughter is and attempts to make contact.

When Carmel arrives, Masood is nowhere to be found and a distracted Shabnam demands to know the truth from her brother.

With tensions among the Masoods at an all-time high, will Shabnam be able to make a good first impression, or will her frosty behaviour be too much for Carmel?
