Paul's reputation quickly catches up with him in prison when a fellow inmate warns that he's a target in a bid to wheedle protection money out of him.
Although Paul tries to brush off the threat,
the reality of the situation becomes apparent when the other prisoners
all band together and issue a warning by refusing to serve him lunch.
Paul
initially turns to Steph Scully for support, explaining
that he'll have to break his promise to hand over his share of the motel
to her - now needing to monetise it to pay for protection in prison.
Things
look bleak for Paul when Steph refuses to spare him any money, and sure
enough, it's not long before a group of inmates corner him for failing
to cough up any cash.
However, just as Paul braces himself for a brutal beating, Gary makes an unexpected appearance and comes to his rescue.
Realising
that Gary could be a very useful ally, Paul decides to keep him sweet
by convincing Sheila to visit her son. But is Paul
barking up the wrong tree by hoping that Gary will carry on being his
protector?
