While Tyrone and Fiz need each other's support at this
worrying time, the diagnosis severely tests their partnership as they
both react so differently to the situation.

Tyrone and Fiz wait anxiously by Hope's side |
Jennie McAlpine revealed: "Fiz doesn't want to tell anybody about Hope,
as she just wants to keep it between them. She doesn't want to say it
out loud, either, I think she feels as though that makes it more real. But
then Tyrone tells everyone about Hope, so immediately Fiz is really
upset by that. How it happens is that Fiz has called in sick when
actually she's taking care of Hope, so the first time she bumps into
Aidan, he questions her on why she isn't at home in bed if she's
supposed to be sick. This is in the middle of the street and so Tyrone comes to Fiz's
defence and tells Aidan not to have a go at Fiz - and ends up saying
that their daughter has cancer. Fiz is really upset that this now means
everyone on the Street knows when she wanted to keep it in the family. Then
on another occasion, Fiz through frustration asks Tyrone why he's upset
since Hope is her daughter, not his. She doesn't even mean what she
says. It's a defence mechanism, but obviously she can't swallow what she
has said and it's out there in the open. It becomes the elephant in the
room and they're both upset by it. Fiz doesn't think that
Tyrone doesn't care as much for Hope compared to Ruby at all. She
doesn't for one second believe that to be true. The 4 of them are such a
tight unit. Fiz also knows how much she cares about Ruby, so she knows
it's the same for Tyrone and Hope. It was just something she said
through feeling so worried. Tyrone gets really upset by it."

Fraught with concern, Fiz lashes out at Tyrone |
Pressure will also mount for Tyrone as he has to cope with staying
strong for the sake of the family, leaving him reluctant to show his
true emotions.
McAlpine added: "I don't think Tyrone copes very
well at all. He's trying to be strong for Fiz, but she's completely
consumed by it so she doesn't ask Tyrone how he's feeling about it.
Nobody really asks Tyrone how he feels and if he needs support, as he's
trying to be strong and hold the family together. He's trying
to be the breadwinner as well, because Fiz is less and less able to go
to work as she has to take Hope to hospital for tests and appointments.
Tyrone is also under more pressure at work but he has to get through it.
Then of course Tyrone has to come home from work and has no time to be
tired as he knows he has to support Fiz and the girls."
Hope's diagnosis will be reaveled on Wednesday, September 2nd
